Glued the fan braces onto the soundboard. They are kept in rectangular cross section for better clamping surface, then carved into shape after the glue sets.

Carved the braces.

Glued the soundboard to the neck using the big orange clamp. First I made the “tangent” cut at the top of the soundboard with a backsaw. The third photo below is the back of the headstock, which I had been scraping and carving further to the final shape, in between doing other steps, when the opportunity arose.

The back for the classical tapers down in thickness ever so slightly, from a little bit below the waist up to the neck. I used the straight side of a piece of masking tape to locate the line of taper on the back. Then I sanded down to the taper line with a giant sanding board. It also will be slightly rounded at the tail, about the same amount, close to nothing. I had tapered the top of the tail block to the right location so the top of the tail block gave me the right thickness and angle at the tail.

Carved the back braces and glued them on, one at a time. The back only had 4 braces I had to cut to dimension, versus the soundboard’s 1 million. So somewhat faster going.

After carving the braces, I placed the back on the front, traced the outline of the guitar then trimmed the excess ends of the back braces to fit snugly inside the pockets of kerfed lining on the sides I made for them.
